“A powerful musical force” (Robert James, GANGgajang/Yothu Yindi), “celestial” (Shane Howard) and “a strong, soulful singer” (allaboutjazz.com), Aminah began performing in WA’s folk and poetry clubs and playing festivals around Australia before heading to Ireland in 2009. From there she spent 6 years performing in Ireland, the UK and Australia with celebrated trad and blues musician, Seamie O’Dowd, and touring with Californian songwriter Thom Moore (Mary Black). She has performed and recorded with Tommy Emmanuel and Ireland’s Máirtín O’Connor Band, and appeared on 10 albums in Australia and Europe as a songwriter, spoken word artist, singer and flautist. She has appeared on Irish TV, RTÉ Radio 1 and BBC Radio Ulster, been featured in AVALON Magazine (USA) and sung with orchestras in Australia and Ireland. Her debut album, recorded in Ireland, USA, Australia and Germany, features a host of renowned musicians, including special guest Tommy Emmanuel, Waterboys fiddler Steve Wickham and Nashville’s powerhouse gospel singers, The McCrary Sisters. She is joined especially for Fairbridge by the Tom OHalloran Trio, who have built an intriguing creative language, from ambient slow landscapes to strong grooves, with a live emotional intensity, playing with some of the biggest names in jazz.
