Steve Gibson (ex-Kill Devil Hills) and Nic Johnson (The New Beast) share the position of front-man, taking it in turns to take the spotlight. Phoebe Corke (Hussy Hicks, Morgan Bain) sweetly shreds on her fiddle while Merle Fishwyck (The Fancy Brothers) and Angus Diggs (everyone you can think of) create a rhythm section par excellence. Between them they’ve over a century’s experience in the music industry and it shows in the maturity of their songwriting and the professionalism of their performances.
These lazy city boys, and girl, from south of the river (Fremantle) blend a mix of country and folk with some sweet harmonies cooked slowly on their back porch. Veterans of more bands than even they can remember (because if you can remember you weren’t there), many years of plying their trade and lying in hammocks growing beards is evident in their superb musicianship and masterful songwriting. Four-part harmonies, some pretty flashy playing and the occasional sombrero make a Los Porcheros gig an extremely enjoyable experience.
