Louise Vermeulen has been a member of the Fairbridge Festival family for fifteen years, and began her current job as the festival’s ticketing manager in 2009.
Louise was introduced to Fairbridge Festival through association. Her children were going to school with the children of one of the festival organisers, who thought Louise would be a good fit with the festival family. Louise says that her first impression of the festival was how wonderful it was seeing children having a safe area to roam around, parent free. Also, there was so much to do with everything included in the ticket price.
Louise sees Fairbridge Festival as a ‘no-judgement’ environment and looks forward to spending time with the rest of the festival team and patrons, seeing everyone’s smiling faces. Louise absolutely loves being a part of the operations group and working with the great crew.
Every year Louise’s husband joins her over the weekend and some years her two daughters come along as well. Louise’s friends also volunteer with her on event in the Ticket Tent – they all help to make the festival special for her.
Louise is kept very busy at the festival; she only manages to catch one or two acts at most. Her most memorable time at the festival was in 2015 on the Sunday night, she had a great night at Gus’s Bar: a night that she says was both classic and steaming!
Louise says Fairbridge Festival awakened her inner hippy and that she knew from her first festival that she needed to be a part of this community.
