Gareth Almond has been a regular attendee of Fairbridge Festival since 2004, when his (now) wife, Bron, took him along – after attending almost every festival since its inception. A few years later Gareth started volunteering in Instrument Scheduling (a job he still refers to as his favourite) and in 2012 he took over the role of Volunteer Manager… a position he still holds today.
Every year Gareth’s teenage children join him at the festival. They all look forward to meeting up with friends who travel from Kojonup for the festival and all camp together in the Fields. Gareth describes it as “the highlight of our calendar.”
Gareth is a big fan of Bluegrass and Americana acts so always tries to attend them. He also loves the community aspect and being an integral part of the festival coming together.
In 2012, Gareth made a substantial contribution to the festival’s processes by creating and introducing the Fairbridge Festival’s online volunteer booking system, Volunteer Hub. His system has proved very successful by speeding up and simplifying registration and management of around 400 volunteers annually.
Every year Gareth looks forward to watching the festival come together and spending time with his sons and his friends from Kojonup.
