Departure of FolkWorld Artistic Director

We are saddened to advise that after eight years in the role as Artistic Director, Rod Vervest has decided to move on from FolkWorld Inc.

Since he took on the role, Rod has nurtured the programming of our much-treasured main event, the Fairbridge Festival, to produce an event bringing folk, roots and global music to us that is recognised for its high quality and audience outreach. He has also built up an amazing team of programmers, admirably represented FolkWorld at festivals here and internationally, mentored key staff, and put forward many suggestions for growing our programming.

He will be sorely missed by those who have worked with him.

The timing of Rod’s resignation allows for recruitment of an Artistic Director in time to plan and handover the 29th Fairbridge Festival to be held in 2023.

We wish Rod the very best for his future endeavours and look forward to his ongoing involvement with Fairbridge Festival.

Recruitment planning is underway and will formally begin shortly.
