From Metal to Musical Theatre and Barbershop, travelling Australia and the world while learning the craft of songwriting, he has developed an eclectic and engaging songwriting style, driven by the catchy melody earworms that just never stop inside his head! The only way to ease his suffering is to write them into a song and give them to other people!
Using music to change people’s lives is a passion and common theme in Ewan’s life in recent years. Since 2011 he has worked as a music facilitator, sound engineer, Chairperson and Program Manager for Desert Feet Inc, a WA-based charity that runs music programs in WA’s most remote Aboriginal communities – an extraordinary and humbling experience of learning about the richness, diversity, strength and wisdom of the Aboriginal cultures of Australia. He’s also a staunch believer and practitioner in the power of music in mass public movements of protest to break through and one day break down the entrenched power structures that hold back the changes we need to see in this world.
Stoked to have the opportunity to present a selection of his songs for the Fairbridge crowd – he’ll break them down from their genesis to their performance…maybe with a little crowd participation along the way! If you caught Ewan Buckley and Public Son in 2018 at Fairbridge Festival 2018, you’ll want to follow up with this more intimate performance.
