Pearl the Guerrilla Granny

Sandy is well known regionally and locally for her puppetry from Big Country Puppets in the Kimberley to Wilfred and Miss Nancy for Spare Parts Puppetry. Her artwork and performances have led her to collaborate with communities worldwide, focussing on environmental and cultural issues. She is an artist well known for her exhibitions and installations. Sandy McKendrick has dressed the Kaleidoscope Children’s area and also appears as Pearl the Guerrilla Granny, a delightfully cheeky woman on wheels.

She is being unleashed at Fairbridge for the first time, to rove or “rev” around each day of the festival and will challenge our perception of being a female elder. This ameliorating woman is unstoppable on her hotted-up mobility scooter. But if you catch Pearl in a quiet moment, you may join her in a game of Scrabble; admire her silver spoon collection; be sketched by her or even indulge in a teabag reading. Pearl is instinctively led by the magical aromas of her re-cycled hand-drawn teabags.
